If your content is longer than a page or covers multiple topics then you should consider breaking it into multiple chunks. To create a new chunk, start a new word document or use another Heading 1 within the same document.
If it doesn’t make sense to break the content into multiple chunks but the content is still more than a few paragraphs or does cover several sub-topics then use Heading 2s to break up content within a chunk (just as you can see in this document). The Information Partner will then make it easier for you to search and select that content that is broken up by a Heading.
Avoid following one Heading immediately with another Heading – try to make sure there is some content between the Headings even if it is just a sentence to describe or list the following Sub-Headings.
Do use multiple levels of Headings (e.g. Heading 2, Heading 3, etc) but ensure that you maintain a sensible hierarchy (i.e. use a Heading 2 before a Heading 3, so that any Heading 3 is nested below a Heading 2, and so on) – open up the Navigation Pane in Word to help guide your use of Heading hierarchy. The Navigation Pane can also be used to more quickly navigate across longer Word Documents.
Use ‘Page Breaks’ (press ctrl + enter) when editing in Word to visually separate content (e.g. before each new Heading). Page Breaks are ignored when importing to the Information Partner. When using Page Breaks before each Heading 1 (i.e. a Chunk), any content that flows over a page in length is an indication that you should consider splitting it into multiple Chunks.
